AI bots are scraping the web indiscriminately for data which can be used to train future AIs, increasing traffic beyond what any reasonable web server can handle. An example of traffic is:

This is affecting many University Libraries round the world. Universities have a lot of data AI companies want. 

The bots adapt, so when restrictions are placed, a counter or bypass gets found. 

This is being worked on, but a solution has yet to be identified and put into place. Te Mātāpuna apologizes for any inconvenience.
