The Importance Level Student Purchase is for the prescribed textbook for a course. Students enrolled in this course are expected to buy this text as it will be referred to constantly. 

The Importance Level Essential is for resources students are required to read, view, or listen to in preparation for a lecture, tutorial or piece of course work.

The Importance Level Recommended is for resources students are advised to read, view, or listen in order to expand their understanding of course content. 

The Importance Level Optional is for resources students may choose to read, view, or listen to if they wish to go beyond the course content.
