Answer

Print books or DVDs which are required for your course can be found in the Short Loan collection in the Library.

  • Borrowing time is 2 hours or 3 days, depending on the item. We allow renewals as long as no one else has requested the item.
  • Students can view the Short Loans in Blackboard courses using the Library or Course Resources button in your course. Be sure to get the call number for each item since you’ll need to know that to find the item you want.
  • You can borrow short loans with a 'D' call number for 2 hours and items with a 'DL' call number for 3 days.

Where is the Short Loan collection?

  • Items are located in the Short Loan section at each campus
City: Level 4 behind the Library Help Desk
North Shore: Level 1 next to the Library Help Desk
South: The first shelves of the book collection

Other required readings, including electronic journal articles and book chapters are also available through Blackboard. Right now, AUT is transitioning from e-Reserves for these items to Course Resources - so your readings could be in either system. Ask your lecturer where to find the readings for your course.

Eventually all the recommended readings and textbooks for your course will be collected in one Course Resources reading list. Your lecturer will tell you if this applies to your course and how to access this list through Blackboard.
